Kuwait: Harsh punitive measures against the stars of the Ramadan series "Khadesh El Hayaa"

After the uproar caused by the series "From the Pyramid to Street", due to scenes that some considered not similar to Kuwaiti society, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information announced that a number of punitive measures were taken against everyone who participated in the work.

The series, starring the actress Hoda Hussein, caused a sensation and popular reactions due to dialogues and scenes that some considered not similar to Kuwaiti society and far from it, while others saw that they reflect an existing reality.

The series, which is still in its infancy, deals with the story of a woman named Abla, a doctor who takes care of her children even after they become doctors, as the six work with her in the medical center, and they also live with her in the same house, and each of them has a private ward with his family.

The first four episodes raised some of the issues that exist in many societies, most notably the issue of marital infidelity, honor crimes, the soft man, and the other aspiring to his political goals, and giving up his principles easily for the sake of sound.

What sparked a storm of criticism, in addition to the dance scenes of actress Nour Ghandour, the dialogue that took place between the plastic surgeon and sculptor "Zuhair" (Ahmed Iraj) with his wife (actress Laila Abdullah), who were on the yacht, reproaching her for not wearing a "bikini" in front of his friends and wives , as a matter of marketing it, a scene that many saw as very bold and includes a kind of “courageousness” and there is no dramatic justification for it, especially in a Gulf work shown on the Ramadan screen.

Saud Al-Khalidi, Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, also announced that the Minister of Information, Hamad Rouh Al-Din, had issued directives to all sectors of the ministry not to contract or host any of the participants in the series "From Al Haram Street to...."

Al-Khalidi stressed that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information will take appropriate measures to hold accountable all employees of the ministry who participated in the work, without official permission from it, noting that the work was filmed outside Kuwait, without obtaining a text or production license from the ministry itself.

He stressed that the Ministry of Information is keen to show the honorable image of Kuwaiti society, and its rejection of any actions that would offend it.
