Part 1: Report on the Climate Observatory in the Chartreuse massif
We are going to the Chartreuse massif in the east of France.
This is where the largest national forest in the Alps is located, a forest that has not been spared by global warming, as evidenced by the first phenomena of decline and weak natural regeneration.
So in an attempt to understand these climatic upheavals in the mountains, researchers are studying the evolution of snow, in a unique site in France.
A report by Clémentine Méténier.

Part 2: 3rd part of the latest IPCC report
“We are at a crossroads,” said
the chairman of the IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, last Monday (April 4, 2022).
And indeed, the decisions that will be made
now can guarantee a livable future... or not.
Because
to limit warming to + 1.5°C compared to the pre-industrial era - the objective of the Paris Agreement - the window of opportunity is dangerously narrowing.
To achieve this, the peak of emissions must be reached no later than 2025, an
“
out of reach
” objective
with current international commitments.
The task is therefore daunting... but not impossible, say the scientists.
How ?
Well, that's what we're going to see today with our guest,
David Williamson, environmental geologist and researcher at the IRD
, focusing on the agricultural sector.
