Inauguration of the new pulpit of the Great Mosque of Mecca (video)

The General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, inaugurated the new pulpit of the Great Mosque of Mecca in its new form, which is in harmony with important considerations that emulate the spirituality of the place.

Al-Sudais was quoted as saying, “The pulpit is one of the evidence of the care and attention to the Two Holy Mosques, and development work continues in them and support all aspects related to facilitating the performance of worship for those who intend to worship, and harnessing all supporting factors for workers to provide the best service.”

The Deputy General President for Projects and Engineering Studies, Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Waqdani, revealed the new appearance of the pulpit of the Grand Mosque in conjunction with the first Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan, saying: “The new pulpit took into account in its design and production the architectural philosophy of the various elements in the sides and corridors of the Grand Mosque, as it was designed with a height of 3.4 meters. And a width of 1.20 meters, in addition to taking into account all the operational, technical and engineering aspects of an acoustic infrastructure, mechanisms for mobility and others.”

The Director General of the General Administration of Engineering Studies and Research, Abdullah Al-Hariqi, explained that "the pulpit gives a historical character and a deep Islamic heritage, in line with the aesthetics present in the Grand Mosque and its corridors."

He added: "The new look was distinguished by achieving contrast and mixing between solidity and transparency by inlaying the sides of the pulpit with glass material in a contemporary style and design that stems from the depth of modern architecture."
