Since the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan 50 years ago, the exchanges and cooperation between the archaeological circles of China and Japan have achieved great development.

In fact, the exchange of archaeologists between China and Japan began as early as the 1950s.

In 1957, a delegation of Japanese archaeologists visited China. Of course, diplomatic relations had not yet been established at that time. After the normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations, they developed rapidly on the original basis.

[Commentary] Over the past 50 years since the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, China and Japan have cooperated in archaeological surveys, excavations and researches.

[Concurrent] Cooperative research based on field archaeological investigations and excavations, such as the excavation of the Han Chang’an City Katsura ruins carried out by the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Nara National Institute of Cultural Properties in Japan, the excavation of the Han and Wei Luoyang City, and the There are the excavations of the Daming Palace ruins in Chang'an City in the Tang Dynasty and the Taiye Pool ruins, the excavation of the Minfeng Niya ruins that Xinjiang cooperated with Japan, the excavation of the Beizhou Tomb in Guyuan, which was cooperated with Ningxia and Japan, and so on.

[Explanation] Talking about the future development prospects of China and Japan in the field of archaeology, Bai Yunxiang said that while insisting on exchanges and cooperation, innovations should be made in terms of forms and research fields, and the exchanges between the archaeological circles of China and Japan should be solidly promoted. The 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, what should we do next in the next 50 years?

From an archaeological point of view, I think this should be said that just like Sino-Japanese friendship is a theme, then the exchanges and cooperation between the archaeological circles of China and Japan should also develop forward.

One is to insist on this kind of exchange and cooperation, the second is to innovate, innovate the form, innovate the research field, expand the research scope, and strengthen the exchange of personnel, so as to promote the exchanges between the archaeological circles of China and Japan steadily and steadily.

Of course, this aspect requires the efforts of the archaeological community and a large international environment.

But I believe that with the joint efforts of China and Japan, the exchanges between the archaeological circles of China and Japan will continue to open up new situations and contribute to the development of China-Japan friendly relations.
