Members David Gilmour and Nick Mason have brought in Guy Pratt on bass and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards.

The song is by Andrij Chlyvnjuk from the Ukrainian band Boombox.

Pink Floyd uses his recorded song from an Instagram post, where he sings a Ukrainian protest song from the First World War on Sofiatorget in Kyiv.

The song title is taken from a line of text in the song, which has been translated into English.

David Gilmour has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and granddaughter and got to know Andrij Chlyvnjuk and Boombox 2015 in London, when he played at a charity concert for Belarus.

The Boombox singer had problems with visas to the UK and the rest of the band therefore accompanied Gilmour instead during the evening.

On the cover of the single is a sunflower, Ukraine's national flower.

"Hey hey rise up" will be released on Friday, April 8.
