Volkswagen has decided to recall 118,000 plug-in hybrid cars, mainly marketed in Europe, due to a potential fuse fault in the battery.

This problem could lead to overheating of the latter, which would in turn create a moderate risk of fire in the event of insufficient insulation, according to a spokesperson for the manufacturer quoted by

“During extensive examinations, Volkswagen has discovered that a fuse in the drive system of certain plug-in hybrid vehicles may be defective in certain cases.

In the worst case, this may mean that this fuse does not work properly in the event of a power surge,” Volkswagen explained in a statement.

Other brands affected: Audi, Skoda and Seat

In order to overcome this problem, the manufacturer will therefore have to install an insulating material in the fuse box of the high voltage battery of these vehicles.

Affected customers should be contacted individually by the manufacturer and this repair should not immobilize the vehicle for too long.

Also note: this problem does not only concern vehicles of the Volkswagen brand but also other brands of the group such as Audi with its A3 and Q3 models built in 2021 or even Skoda with its Octavia iV and Superb iV models or even Seat vehicles.
