The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which has jurisdiction over the landfill law, has decided to cancel the disapproval of the prefecture on the 8th, regarding the disapproval of the design change of the relocation plan of the US military Futenma base by Okinawa prefecture.

It is also a policy to recommend Okinawa Prefecture to approve the design change.

Regarding the plan to relocate the U.S. military Futenma base to Henoko, Nago City, the Ministry of Defense applied to Okinawa Prefecture for a design change in order to improve the soft ground at the planned landfill site, but Governor Tamagusuku applied for a soft ground last November. The application was disapproved due to insufficient ground survey.

As a countermeasure, the Ministry of Defense filed a request for examination to cancel the disapproval of Okinawa Prefecture from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, which has jurisdiction over the landfill law, based on the Administrative Appeal Act last December.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has decided to cancel the disapproval of the prefecture on the 8th after accepting the request of the Ministry of Defense as a result of examining by asking a civil engineering expert etc. for appraisal based on the opinions of both parties. Hardened.

We also recommend that Okinawa Prefecture approve design changes based on the Local Autonomy Law.

It is inevitable that Okinawa Prefecture will oppose this, and after scrutinizing the examination results, the prefecture will apply for examination to the "National and Local Dispute Resolution Committee" that mediates the dispute between the national and local governments, and will deal with the national government. It is likely that they will consider filing a trial.
