China News Agency, Beijing, April 7th: Why did the US arms sales to Taiwan "push Taiwan compatriots into the fire pit"

The DPP authorities have recently reached an arms sales deal with the U.S. worth about $95 million.

A spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council pointed out on the 6th that this will only "push the Taiwan compatriots into the fire pit step by step".

This statement from the mainland side can be described as one sentence and to the point.

First of all, in the view of the DPP authorities, the conclusion of this transaction "fully demonstrates the great importance the US attaches to Taiwan's defense needs". In fact, the continued US arms sales to Taiwan will inevitably worsen the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the security of Taiwan compatriots. The environment will undoubtedly suffer.

The peaceful development of cross-strait relations is the wish of Chinese sons and daughters, including Taiwan compatriots, but for a long time, the DPP authorities have turned a blind eye to the goodwill released by the mainland, ignored the "1992 Consensus", and constantly exaggerated the so-called "threat from the mainland" , adding many obstacles to cross-strait exchanges.

The mainland has always stressed that it will firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests and will not tolerate any external interference.

The DPP authorities are willing to be the pawn of the US "Taiwan to control China", trying to use Sino-US relations to push up the momentum of "Taiwan independence", test the mainland's red line, and introduce unstable factors into the Taiwan Strait, which will inevitably lead to resolute countermeasures from the mainland.

The continued purchase of US weapons seems to have thickened the "protective armor" of the Taiwan authorities, but in fact, it has made cross-strait relations even more turbulent and caused the Taiwanese people to fall into a "fire pit of anxiety".

Second, the DPP authorities colluded with the United States to reject reunification by force, wasting the hard-earned money of the Taiwanese people, increasing the burden on the people, and creating a "fire pit of development" for Taiwan compatriots that made people's lives difficult.

According to reports, the $95 million in the arms sale is to pay the US "to send professionals to Taiwan to provide technical assistance such as the 'Patriot' air defense system, related equipment and logistical support."

Some Taiwanese public opinion questioned, "Inviting these people to Taiwan will cost the people's hard-earned NT$2.7 billion. If this is not money grabbing, then what is it?"

According to an earlier report by Taiwan media, the total debt of the Taiwan authorities has reached nearly 6 trillion NT dollars, and the average debt of each Taiwanese is 248,000 yuan.

In the face of outdated infrastructure, people suffer from water and power outages and inconveniences from time to time, Taiwan should spend more money on the edge to create a comfortable development space for the people, rather than creating a haze for cross-strait relations.

From the perspective of the development history of cross-strait relations, relying on the United States to seek "independence" has never been the right choice.

Today, the Taiwanese people also do not believe that the US can "help" the "Taiwan independence" forces once "something happens".

According to a public opinion poll, 34.5% of Taiwanese people believe that the US military will "help defend" Taiwan during wartime, while 55.9% say they don't believe it.

The DPP authorities should face up to the predicament of the development of cross-strait relations, do less things that endanger peace, and blindly operate "uniting the United States, resisting China, and protecting Taiwan", which will not only hurt the majority of Taiwan compatriots, but will also pay a huge price for themselves. cost.
