Twitter is testing a feature to edit tweets
Twitter has been working on adding an edit feature for tweets since last year and will test it on Twitter Blue in the coming months with select members.
Twitter first announced this news on April 1, at a time when Elon Musk became its largest shareholder and joined the board of directors after questioning the social networking platform's commitment to freedom of expression.
The poll on the much-anticipated feature the company is working on began with Twitter CEO Paraj Agrawal urging users to "vote carefully".
Twitter stated in a tweet that it did not get the idea of the editing feature from a poll that Musk had started.
Twitter's head of consumer products, Jay Sullivan, said in a tweet that the company has been working since last year to add the edit option, "the most requested feature on Twitter for many years."
He added that this feature will take time to adjust, as "without things such as time limits, controls and transparency about what has been modified, the modification can be misused to change the public conversation history," according to what was published by Sky News Arabia.
