In one month, millions of people around the world celebrate Ramadan by fasting, associating with loved ones, and focusing on their faith.

A great tradition at dusk when Lent has been broken is to watch TV series.

More specifically, Ramadan series.

Fatima Abdallah from Lebanon has worked as a journalist and television critic for ten years.

Formerly with the Lebanese daily An-Nahar and now with the international Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.

There, she reviews the Ramadan drama and interviews big names in the billion-dollar industry.

Streaming services increase the range of Ramadan series

Fatima Abdallah has seen a big change in the range of Ramadan series that appear in more and more streaming services.

Netflix has, among other things, caught on to the trend and in recent years bought in Ramadanserier.

The most varied offer right now, however, is on the platform Shahid, which Abdallah explains as an Arabic version of Netflix.

- TV still shows most drama series from all Arab countries, she says.

- But what has almost revolutionized viewing, or the platforms on which you can watch series, is this platform.

It shows most series from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, the Gulf States and North Africa.

Yes, the whole Arab region.
