Researchers from China and the United States recently discovered a new fossil specimen of Paradontia mastodon about 120 million years ago in the Jehol Biota, Liaoning Province. In-depth comparative studies have provided new evidence for understanding the origin and evolution of mammals.

This important achievement of paleontological research was jointly completed by Mao Fangyuan, a researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Meng Jin, a researcher at the American Museum of Natural History.

On April 6, in the Beijing office of researcher Mao Fangyuan, the fossil specimens of the mastodon from about 120 million years ago (left), and the fossil specimens of Zhanghe veterinary predators for comparison were carried out in this study. .
