• Health Kinder chocolates withdrawn from the French market due to suspicions of salmonella

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued this Wednesday afternoon a

precautionary withdrawal alert from the Spanish market

of certain batches of Kinder products manufactured in Belgium.

The note from the AESAN specifies that the competent authorities of Catalonia, where the company that distributes the products in Spain is located, have notified it of the precautionary withdrawal in Spanish territory of the affected products.

The procedure was initiated after an alert notification transferred by the European Commission Services that referred to the precautionary withdrawal of batches of certain Kinder products manufactured in Belgium and distributed in different countries, including Spain.

It was carried out, assures the AESAN alert, "in relation to an outbreak of food poisoning in several countries caused by monophasic Salmonella Typhimurium."

The

cases of salmonellosis located in France

and potentially linked to the consumption of these products have the same strain in genetic terms as the one responsible for an epidemic in the United Kingdom and Ireland also associated with certain Kinder products, according to the French authorities.

Information is being collected to find out if there is any case in Spain related to these outbreaks in European territory.

The products that are withdrawn from the market are the following:

-

Kinder Surprise Egg cup of 6 units Christmas edition

with Christmas drawings in the pack (total weight 120 gr.) and with a best before date 04/20/2022.

-

Kinder Schokobons,

in presentations weighing 46 gr., 200 gr., 225 gr.

and 500 gr.

and with preferential consumption dates between 05/26/2022 and 08/21/2022.

-

Kinder Schokobons White,

with a weight of 200 gr and best before dates between 05/26/2022 and 08/21/2022.

-

Kinder Surprise Maxi,

weighing 100 gr.

and best-before dates between 05/26/2022 and 08/21/2022.

-

Kinder Happy Moments

, weighing 133 gr.

and 191 grams.

and best-before dates between 05/26/2022 and 08/21/2022.

The AESAN alert states that the company informs that

the rest of the Kinder Surprise eggs of any format, the Kinder Gran Surprise and all the rest of the Kinder brands are not involved in the withdrawal

.

In a statement, the Ferrero Ibérica company stresses that "no presence of salmonella has been detected in the analyzes carried out on any Kinder product."

The withdrawal of these products, he affirms, responds to "a precautionary measure" because this company "takes food safety very seriously" and places "consumer safety" as "the highest priority".

Ferrero Ibérica states that "it is cooperating with the Spanish health authorities to withdraw the products as quickly as possible."

This company calls on those who have been able to buy some of the products that are now withdrawn from the market

not to consume it and to contact the firm through its website or by calling 93 545 25 38

.

The same batches have also been withdrawn in Morocco.

As in the Spanish case, all these chocolates were manufactured at the Ferrero factory in the Belgian city of Arlon.
