Ali Kushayb's trial before the ICC: "It is a great event that has been awaited for a long time"

A long-awaited trial opened this Tuesday morning April 5 before the International Criminal Court in The Hague: that of Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman, also known as Ali Kushayb, former leader of the Sudanese Janjaweed accused many crimes in Darfur, western Sudan, some 20 years ago.

The event is considered historic, as it is the first time that a trial has been held to judge the atrocities committed at the time.
