[Explanation] In the generally arid and water-deficient North China Plain, Baiyang Lake, with a water area of 366 square kilometers, is the largest wetland ecosystem in North China, known as the "Pearl of North China", and an important habitat for wild birds in central North China.

Wild birds are called "barometers" of local ecosystems and are very good "environmental assessors".

Baiyangdian is getting better and better ecological environment, providing good habitat conditions for all kinds of wild animals. More and more wild birds come to Baiyangdian to inhabit, forage, reproduce and overwinter.

Recently, the staff of the Wetland Management Center of the Natural Resources Bureau of Anxin County, Xiongan New Area, monitored the habitation of a group of white spoonbills, a national second-level key protected bird, in Baiyangdian.

We have observed the national second-class protected bird, the white spoonbill. The number we have seen in that area is the largest single group compared with the same period of previous years (compared to), especially since the establishment of the (Xiongan) New Area.

[Explanation] Egret, middle egret, heron, and grass heron are all common "fishing masters" in Baiyangdian.

After the establishment of the Xiongan New Area, the good ecological water level has made fish resources more abundant, and the species and number of birds that feed on fish have greatly increased.

Including many projects of returning farmland to lakes, as well as reed balance harvesting and other projects, the water surface of Baiyangdian has been greatly increased, the water quality has become better and better, and there are more and more aquatic animals and plants. Now, it provides a stable habitat for large groups of wild birds. good foundation.

[Explanation] According to the statistics of the Wetland Management Center of Anxin County Natural Resources Bureau of Xiongan New Area, a total of 230 species of wild birds have been recorded in Xiongan New Area, an increase of 24 species compared with that before the establishment of the new area.

In the past ten years, we have been tracking and recording the wintering conditions of rare bird species in Baiyangdian, such as the Great Bustard and Grey Crane, and also tracking and investigating the breeding and wintering conditions of the national first-class bird, the Pochard.

[Explanation] Qi Ming has been engaged in bird observation work in Baiyangdian for nearly 18 years.

He usually uses bird monitoring equipment such as telescopes, telephoto cameras or "infrared" cameras to monitor wild birds in Baiyangdian on a daily basis.

Through these monitoring methods, we can grasp various scientific research data such as the migration, change, and increase of wild birds in Baiyangdian in real time, and provide first-hand data for ecological environment monitoring and ecological changes in the new area.

[Explanation] Qi Ming said that nowadays, various migratory birds stay in Baiyangdian for longer and longer, the probability of observing and recording different bird species is getting higher and higher, and the awareness of the common people to love and protect birds is getting stronger and stronger.

Wild birds are an integral part of our ecosystem, maintain the stability of the entire ecosystem, and protect the natural environment on which we depend.

The record of every new bird species in Baiyangdian can be said to reflect the improvement of Baiyangdian's ecological environment.
