In the space of nine months, a German has been vaccinated at least 87 times against Covid-19.

The man then sold his vaccination card to antivax, reports the

Freie Presse

newspaper .

Authorities found that the 61-year-old Magdeburg resident received up to three doses a day.

For this, he visited various vaccination centers in the Lands of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.

The facts would have started in July 2021.

The man made an appointment with his real identity but did not present his health insurance card, so that the authorities could not trace him.

He presented each time, however, a new blank vaccination card.

As soon as his vaccination schedule was complete, he resold the document, having taken care to remove his personal information.

Gaps in the German healthcare system

His scheme ended when an employee of a vaccination center in Dresden recognized him.

The other vaccination centers in the Land have been notified.

The sexagenarian was arrested while trying to receive a new dose, in the suburbs of Leipzig.

The man could have traveled to other regions, where he received far more than the 87 vaccinations recorded by the authorities.

The case reveals shortcomings in Germany's healthcare system, where medical information is mostly not digitized or stored centrally,

Deutsche Welle

said .

"A national vaccine registry or a coronavirus vaccine registry would have immediately shed light on the case," said Knut Köhler, spokesman for the Saxon state medical association.
