On the occasion of the centenary of the town of Beauchamp (Val-d'Oise), the Barrachin wood has been open to visitors again since Saturday.

The site had been closed for seventy years for fear that it would become "an industrial wasteland", explains

Le Parisien

.

To allow the reopening, the town hall has signed an agreement with a developer specializing in the construction and revitalization of industrial business parks.

The company retroceded the 5.4 hectares of wood to the municipality for one euro.

"It's a godsend, there was not much to walk in Beauchamp", testified one of the first inhabitants to walk the alleys of the wood.

Regional funding

For the moment, the fittings of the wood are not quite finalized.

These were largely financed by the Île-de-France region, which paid the sum of 430,000 euros.

Mayor Françoise Nordmann (SE) spoke of “an island of freshness that we so badly need”.
