Last Tuesday, the State, local authorities and associations presented the reception system for some 1,600 Ukrainian refugees on a ferry from the shipping company Corsica Linea.

Today, an online petition, launched on March 6 and which has already collected more than 25,000 signatures, asks that the same refugees fleeing the war be housed on a Russian yacht immobilized in La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône).

Seized on March 3 as it was trying to leave the shipyard in a hurry, where it was having a makeover before the summer, this 86-metre long yacht belongs to the company Rosneft, whose main shareholder is Igor Sechine, a former Russian Deputy Prime Minister in Vladimir Putin's government.

Philippe Bonneau, the initiator of this petition, is a resident of La Ciotat and "an anti-globalization activist, member of Attac", he explains.

In an update to his petition, he wished "that the national solidarity movement expressed around Ukrainian refugees is very encouraging and should undoubtedly be deployed under the same conditions for all refugees".
