At least six people have been killed in a shooting in the US city of Sacramento.

Nine other people were injured, said the police in California's capital on Sunday morning (local time) on Twitter.

She did not initially give any further details.

In a first tweet about the incident, the police had called on residents to avoid the area in the center of the city.

The emergency services were on site with a large contingent.

The crime took place in downtown Sacramento, which is home to many bars and restaurants.

A video was published on the Internet showing a scuffle between several people on a street.

When shots are heard, the crowd breaks up and people flee in panic.

The authenticity of the recordings could not initially be checked.
