57 people fell ill with a gastrointestinal virus in a hotel in the Oberallgäu district.

Three of the sick are in a clinic for medical treatment, as a spokeswoman for the Oberallgäu state office announced on Friday evening.

Accordingly, the other 54 sick people stayed in the hotel in Bad Hindelang, as did 265 healthy guests.

According to the information, three doctors and 28 helpers from the Johanniter Unfallhilfe and the Bavarian Red Cross took care of the sick.

The public areas of the hotel have been thoroughly disinfected.

At first it was not known whether the pathogen was the highly contagious norovirus.

According to the spokeswoman, the Oberallgäu health department had the stool samples of the sick people examined.
