The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections continues to decline.

As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Saturday morning, the value is now 1531.5.

On Friday it was 1586.4, a week ago it was 1758.4.

The value quantifies the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over a period of seven days.

As the RKI further reported, citing data from the health authorities, the absolute number of new infections reported within 24 hours on Saturday was 196,456 – after 252,530 the day before and 252,026 new infections a week ago.

The total number of registered cases of infection in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has increased to 21,553,495.

According to the RKI, 292 further deaths related to the corona virus were registered within 24 hours.

The total number of recorded corona deaths in Germany rose to 129,987.

In its weekly report published on Thursday, the RKI stated that the peak of the current corona wave had “probably been reached”.

However, the “infection pressure” and the absolute number of daily corona deaths are still very high.

Next week, the Bundestag wants to decide on a general corona vaccination obligation with a view to new corona infection waves.
