Health authorities have confirmed a link between Buitoni brand pizzas and certain cases of Escherichia coli contamination in French children.

Of the 75 cases listed in France, 16 come from the Hauts-de-France region where the manufacturing plant is located.

An investigation for "manslaughter", "deception" and "endangering others" has been opened

An investigation for "manslaughter", "deception" and "endangering others" was opened after several serious cases of contamination by the bacterium Escherichia coli possibly linked to the consumption of Buitoni frozen pizzas, indicated the Paris prosecutor's office Friday, requested by AFP.

This investigation, conducted by the public health center of the Paris prosecutor's office, has been open since March 22.

Health authorities recently established a link between the consumption of these pizzas and several serious cases of contamination, while dozens of French children fell ill and two died.
