Looking at the breakdown of the damage, the damage caused by "plagiarism" in which illegally obtained card numbers are used is 31.17 billion yen, accounting for 94.4% of the total.



In addition, the damage caused by unauthorized use of lost or stolen cards is 1.69 billion yen, and the damage caused by forged cards is 150 million yen.



In particular, the amount of damage caused by theft of card numbers has increased by about 40% compared to the previous year, and one of the causes is that we send e-mails and guide them to fake websites and give them card numbers and passwords. There is expected an increase in "phishing scams" to steal.



According to the Anti-Phishing Council, last year the number of reports of phishing scams more than doubled from the previous year to 526,500, the highest number ever.



The Japan Credit Association, which conducted the survey, says, "After using the card, check the usage details, and if you make a payment that you do not remember using, please contact the card company immediately."
