The French branch of the television channel Russia Today had lodged an appeal with the court of the European Union, after its ban for disinformation following the start of the war in Ukraine.

The international judicial institution announced in a press release the rejection of RT France's appeal.

The RT France soap opera continues.

A few weeks ago, the news channel filed an appeal with the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) to have its broadcast ban lifted.

The European Union had banned this media because it accused it of misinformation.

On Wednesday, the European Union tribunal said in a press release that RT France's request had been rejected.

The institution considered that the conditions were not required to annul these EU decisions.

No financial data transmitted to assess the damage

RT France had assured at the beginning of the month that these restrictive measures would lead to "dramatic economic, financial and human consequences".

The president of the court found that the French-speaking channel nevertheless refrained from exposing its financial situation, and also refrained from providing "the slightest data, in particular figures, which would make it possible to assess the serious and irreparable nature of its financial damage. ".

In order for RT France to obtain the response to its request for cancellation as soon as possible, the judge decided to rule according to an accelerated procedure.

But a final judgment on the merits of this case will be rendered at a later date.

An appeal can be brought by RT France within two months.
