TEPCO plans to start the first investigation of the inside of the pressure vessel, which is the core, at Unit 2 in 2024, two years later, in order to remove the "fuel debris" that had melted down in the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Was shown.

At the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 to 3 that caused the "meltdown" had melted down nuclear fuel and surrounding metal structures inside the reactor pressure vessel and below the containment vessel that covered it. It is believed that the mixed "fuel debris" has accumulated.

TEPCO has announced that it will start the first investigation to check the inside of the pressure vessel from Unit 2 in 2024, two years later.

At Unit 2, we plan to use a robot arm to collect a few grams from the bottom of the containment vessel. I would like to accelerate the removal of "fuel debris" by confirming.

On the other hand, at Unit 1, deposits that could be "fuel debris" were confirmed in February, but the investigation was interrupted due to the impact of the March 16 earthquake, and robot camera malfunctions continued to occur. There is no prospect of resuming the investigation.
