Chris Rock does not want to talk about the ear file he received from Will Smith during the Oscars 2022. The comedian made it clear during a sold-out show in Boston.
"Let me be a little emotional," Rock told Reuters.
- I do not have a shit to say about it, so if you came here for it so ... I have written a whole show before this weekend.
At the same time, he announced that he will return to the incident at a later stage.
- I'm still working on what happened.
"I'll be talking about shit at some point, and it's going to be serious and fun," Rock said.
Rock apologized to Wanda Sykes, one of the gala's hosts along with Amy Schumer and Regina Hall, at the gala's afterparty, Sykes says in Ellen DeGenere's talk show.
Refused to leave the gala
Will Smith was asked to leave the gala but refused.
The American Film Academy believes that the events developed in a way that could not be predicted.
- Although we want to make it clear that Mr Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also want to admit that we could have handled the situation differently.
The board of the Oscars has also announced that it has formally launched a disciplinary investigation into Smith's actions on the grounds that he has violated the academy's code of conduct.
Smith apologized on Instagram
Hollywood star Will Smith went on the attack after the comedian joked about his wife suffering from alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
- I would like to apologize in public, Chris.
