The speech disorder aphasia that Bruce Willis suffers from is said to have made itself felt years ago.

"It was getting harder and harder to shoot with him.

Body doubles were therefore used - not only for action scenes, but also to be able to show Bruce longer.

Everyone knew he was struggling," a source told the New York Post of filming in 2020. Willis allegedly forgot lines of writing and seemed disoriented at times on set.

He is said to have accidentally fired a gun while filming the action film "Hard Kill" two years ago.

Willis' wife Emma Heming-Willis, his former partner Demi Moore and their five daughters announced the 67-year-old's departure from Hollywood on Wednesday.

The family justified the end of his career with aphasia that affected his cognitive abilities.

Many fans of the actor have noticed in recent months that Heming-Willis, Moore and his adult daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah have repeatedly shared private photos with the former action hero on social media.

Industry publications reported that Willis's former wife, Moore, and Heming-Willis became close after the diagnosis and are now taking care of him together.

“We are coping with the situation as a strong family unit.

Bruce always says 'live it out'.

His way up

The actor was born in March 1955 as the son of a German father and an American soldier in Idar-Oberstein and grew up in Carneys Point (New Jersey).

After odd jobs as a security guard and private investigator, he studied drama for a few semesters before moving to New York.

From 1985 to 1989 he was in front of the camera alongside Cybill Shepherd for the series "Moonlighting - The Model and the Snoop".

In the next few years, films like "Blind Date" and "Sunset" followed.

Willis became one of Hollywood's most successful stars in 1988 with John McTiernan's action film Die Hard, which grossed more than $140 million.

For rather weak acting performances like "Survive the Game" and "Cosmic Sin" last year, Willis was awarded the Golden Raspberry abusive prize a week ago.

After his illness became known, the organizers of the “Razzies” now publicly asked the actor for an apology.
