The regional hospital center (CHR) of Orléans (Loiret) launched its white plan on Monday.

The same day, a patient was found dead on a stretcher, reports

La République du Center

.

Others are lying there sometimes for several days, unable to be admitted to services faced with a shortage of beds and staff.

Hundreds of vacancies for nurses

Patients admitted to the emergency room are notified directly: it takes at least seven hours to wait to see a doctor.

On Monday, 235 people waited.

However, the service is in tension as soon as the bar of 150 admissions is crossed.

A finding that forces caregivers to take care of three times as many patients as usual.

Exhausted by this situation, 55 nurses and caregivers were, on Tuesday, on sick leave for "suffering at work", according to our colleagues.

For the time being, the adult emergency department only takes care of vital emergencies.

Currently, a hundred nursing positions are vacant at the CHR, for nearly 150 closed beds.
