The largest "Mujadara" dish in the world by Palestinian chefs is on its way to "Guinness Record"

Today, Wednesday, Palestinian chefs prepared the largest “Mujadara” dish, in preparation for its registration in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The preparation of the dish came at the end of the activities of the first international festival "The Land of Canaan", which was organized by the Palestinian Culinary Arts Association, and began on Saturday.

Chef Shukri Matalqa, one of the participants in preparing the dish, told Anadolu Agency that "Mujadara" is a popular Palestinian dish that relies mainly on lentils and rice, or bulgur.

He added to "Anatolia News Agency" that preparing the dish "requires 750 kilograms of bulgur (made of wheat), 450 kilograms of lentils, and 250 kilograms of onions."

He pointed out the use of between 75 and 80 liters of corn oil, between 35 and 40 liters of olive oil, 30 kilograms of spices, and the same amount of salt.

He said the cooks used 10 cylinders of gas and about 1.8 liters of water.

Matalqa stated that the area of the dish was 40 square meters, and its weight was about a ton and a half.

For his part, the head of the Palestinian Association for Culinary Arts, Samer Abu Jumaa, told Anadolu Agency that 20 chefs participated in preparing the dish over a period of 5 hours.

He added that the association is proceeding with the procedures for registering the dish in the Guinness Book of Records, and has provided the relevant authorities in the encyclopedia with the required information.

Abu Juma'a says that preparing the dish aims to "consecrate the resistance to the Judaization of the Palestinian dish and protect it from theft."
