Actor Jim Carrey publicly criticized Will Smith for causing an unprecedented assault at the Academy Awards.

Jim Carrey, who is promoting the movie 'Supersonic 2', criticized Will Smith's actions and filmmakers who gave a standing ovation for his award in an interview with Gail King of CBS Mornings on the 29th (local time).

"It was disgusting when there was a standing ovation from the audience after Will Smith won the Best Actor award," said Jim Carrey.

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face when he was outraged by the Academy Awards presenter Chris Rock's joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's hairstyle.

The award for Best Actor came after Will Smith's assault, and he won Best Actor for 'King Richards'.

At this moment, all the filmmakers in the audience stood up and congratulated him with a standing ovation.

"Will Smith should have been arrested by the police [immediately after the assault]," said Jim Carrey.

When host Gale King commented that "Chris Rock turned down a police report of this case," Carrey said "because he didn't want the hassle."

He was also concerned about the trauma that the assault victim, Chris Rock, would suffer.

Jim Carrey said, "I would have sued Will Smith for $200 million. The video (video of the assault) will be everywhere forever and the insult he suffered will last for a very long time. It has nothing to do with yelling or tweeting, but I have no right to go up on stage and slap someone in the face."

Jim Carrey repeatedly criticized "I have no grudges against Will Smith. It casts a shadow on everyone's shining moment. It was a selfish act".
