When a specialized society such as heart disease conducted a survey of patients who were hospitalized and recovered from the new coronavirus, there were multiple cases in which symptoms such as cardiac dysfunction were found in examinations three months after discharge. I understand.

The group surveyed is calling for immediate testing if any symptoms occur, even after some time has passed.

This survey was conducted by the Japanese Circulation Society, which is made up of specialists in heart and blood vessels, and was reported at a meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held on the 30th.

From August to December last year, a total of hundreds of people with moderate or higher illness who were hospitalized with the new coronavirus in seven medical institutions such as Tokyo and had no heart disease were tested for blood. We investigated in detail 31 people who were pointed out to be at risk of heart disease.

As a result, three months after discharge, 42%, or 13 people, had symptoms such as decreased heart function.

In addition, 8 out of 31 people were found to have symptoms of myocarditis.

Professor Koichi Node of the Department of Cardiology, Saga University School of Medicine, who was in charge of the survey, said, "Even if there is no problem with the heart during the acute phase of the new corona, it is possible that symptoms may appear in the heart afterwards. Even if it is healed, if you see the situation for a long time and any symptoms appear, I would like you to have an examination immediately. "
