[Explanation] The fifth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong is raging, and the number of confirmed diagnoses continues to hover at a high level. When the public medical system is severely impacted and medical resources are in a hurry, Hong Kong colleges and universities take advantage of their professional advantages and take multiple measures to actively play the role of traditional Chinese medicine in epidemic prevention and control. The advantages in the process help Hong Kong fight the epidemic.

[Explanation] A few days ago, the reporter saw at the Hong Kong Baptist University Chinese Medicine Anti-epidemic Telemedicine Center that some classrooms on the campus have been converted into consultation rooms, and some doctors provide services to patients through telemedicine.

It is reported that the TCM team of HKBU launched the "Free Online Consultation Service for Persons Infected with COVID-19" in February this year, which provides free video consultation, consultation and delivery of Chinese medicines to patients or those under quarantine at home.

So far, the project has served more than 10,000 people.

[Concurrent] Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice President (Chinese Medicine Development) of Hong Kong Baptist University

The first aspect includes the situation of telemedicine in the entire organization, because it is mainly aimed at the situation where a large number of patients are currently isolated after being diagnosed, and there is no way to seek medical treatment at home, and at the same time, there is no way to come out to get medicine.

For the second job, we provided voluntary consultation online, because many patients in the consultation work actually have some parts, and their condition may not be very serious. They have medicine on hand, but I don’t know what to do.

In the third part of the work, we have formulated a plan for Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment of new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong, so that we can guide our medical work in the process of clinical diagnosis and treatment.

[Explanation] Bian Zhaoxiang, the school's associate vice-principal, introduced that the school has compiled the "Hong Kong New Coronary Virus Diagnosis and Treatment Plan" based on the treatment experience of new coronary pneumonia in the mainland and local cases, to provide standardized guidelines for relevant clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Patients in Hong Kong have some very special characteristics. The climate in Hong Kong is relatively humid all year round. We said that in terms of the clinical characteristics of the new crown patient, from the etiology, his dampness is more obvious. Therefore, in the process of clinical medication, we especially emphasize On the basis of the treatment of the new crown, the importance of removing dampness is emphasized.

The second situation is that we have seen that many elderly people have more cases.

The elderly themselves have some basic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and some basic conditions of stroke. Therefore, in terms of clinical medication, we should make some adjustments to the clinical medication plan in response to this situation, so that it is more suitable for Hong Kong locals. The situation of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of new crowns.

[Explanation] Residential care homes for the elderly are the hardest-hit areas in Hong Kong's fifth wave of the epidemic. The medical team of the Chinese University of Hong Kong spared no effort to participate in the Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment service of residential care homes for the elderly sponsored by the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, and has served about 1,100 community new crown patients so far.

Lin Zhixiu, associate dean of the School of Chinese Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said in an interview that practice has proved that traditional Chinese medicine is very helpful in regulating and improving the symptoms of new crown patients.

I have seen two cases of children recently. Their fever is very high, and the body temperature is 40.6 ℃, and it is not easy to lower. We give them traditional Chinese medicine. .

At the same time, because of the need to reduce fever, the fever reduction effect of western medicine is still relatively fast.

Through the treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, the body temperature can basically be lowered, and then the symptoms of this patient are gradually improved.

Because our traditional Chinese medicine often has an anti-inflammatory effect, it is very good. On the one hand, it can clear heat and detoxify, and it will reduce inflammation. On the other hand, it mainly has an aspect of immune regulation, so the overall adjustment of the patient's recovery is still Very helpful.

[Explanation] Lin Zhixiu said that looking back on Chinese history, traditional Chinese medicine has played an important role in at least 300 large-scale plagues, and has accumulated rich experience.

He believes that traditional Chinese medicine will also have a positive impact in preventing new coronary pneumonia and alleviating symptoms.

It (TCM) has a very good anti-inflammatory effect, that is, after the virus infects our body, our body has an immune response to it, and then produces some inflammation.

If we take the traditional Chinese medicine orally in time, then the traditional Chinese medicine can block the inflammation because it has good heat-clearing and detoxifying properties, so basically the body temperature can be quickly lowered, and then some clinical symptoms, including sore throat, Cough and expectoration can be relieved and even improved.

[Explanation] In addition to providing clinical services for patients with new coronary pneumonia, the University of Hong Kong also provides support in the prevention, treatment and recovery of new coronary pneumonia.

Feng Yibin, Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, said in an interview that the Hong Kong University team had formulated the first version of Hong Kong's Chinese medicine treatment plan with reference to the "New Coronary Virus Pneumonia Diagnosis and Treatment Plan (Trial Version 7)" and domestic and foreign experience in the early stage of the epidemic. It includes three aspects: pre-disease prevention, in-disease treatment and post-disease rehabilitation.

For some adverse reactions after vaccination, he will also seek medical treatment, or after recovery, he also has various sequelae symptoms, he will also seek medical treatment, so in the early stage, the outpatient department of our college has been watching. These new coronary pneumonia-related diseases, and our college has been providing preventive programs, which include various medicines and diets.

At present, we have provided six prescriptions to the general public, including two diets for pre-sickness, two for during illness, and two for after-sickness.

As far as I know, it is very popular with the public.

Because the therapeutic formula is both medicine and food, it is relatively peaceful, so it is of great help to relieve the tension of the public and to prevent and improve physical fitness.

[Explanation] Since the fifth wave of the epidemic, some community isolation facilities have been lacking in manpower. The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong has taken the initiative to undertake 150 beds in a temporary care center, and uses integrated Chinese and Western medicine to help elderly patients fight the epidemic.

[Concurrent] Feng Yibin, Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine, The University of Hong Kong

In the face of the elderly, I think there is a new topic set out.

That is to say, in the original country, in addition to the three prescriptions and three medicines, from the perspective of general wind-heat symptoms, rheumatic wind-cold symptoms or humidification and other programs, the situation for these elderly people is not obvious.

Therefore, when we came back to target the elderly, we should focus on strengthening the righteousness, eliminating pathogenic factors, and strengthening the foundation and cultivating vitality, because the elderly are relatively weak.

Our college has been holding conferences related to new coronary pneumonia, which is to form a consensus and understanding of some standardization and standardization of the theory and practice of traditional Chinese medicine in the whole hospital, so that everyone can play a role in practical work.

[Explanation] Many university leaders said that there is still a long way to go for the culturally diverse Hong Kong and even the international community to fully accept Chinese medicine, recognize its anti-epidemic effect, and better use Chinese medicine in the anti-epidemic process. The joint efforts of universities and industry.
