In July 2021, the imam of the Attakwa mosque in Saint-Chamond (Loire), Mmadi Ahamada, was “suspended from his duties, as requested by the prefect of the Loire” Catherine Séguin.

The latter had considered that the content of the incriminated sermon, which had created the controversy, was "discriminatory and contrary to equality between women and men".

In a July 20 video, posted on the mosque's Facebook page, the Comorian imam spoke in Arabic and French to several hundred men gathered for Eid-El-Kébir.

"You, Muslim women wishing to enter Paradise, try to obey the finger of your husbands, stay in your homes and do not exhibit yourselves in the manner of women before Islam", urged Mmadi Ahamada, who invited women not to give in to "the accomplishment of corruption and vice".

Quickly denounced by the regional councilor RN Isabelle Surply, this extract had also led Catherine Séguin to specify in a press release that "in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of the Interior, the question of the non-renewal of his residence permit was under study. ".

Calm, in #saintchamond:

"You, Muslim women, try to obey the finger of your husbands, stay in your homes and do not show off in the way of women before Islam."
