Important tips for dieting in Ramadan.. What do we eat at Iftar and Suhoor?

Egyptian nutritionist Sally Fouad gave several tips for dieting and losing weight during Ramadan. She said that you can eat one date for breakfast, a glass of fresh orange juice and one fruit three hours after eating. She also advised on her website to drink water and reduce tea because it reduces iron absorption.

Iftar meal

, Sally Fouad provided a sample breakfast meal, which includes:

  • 1 date + a little milk or soup, then go for Maghrib prayer.

  • We complement breakfast with a vegetable salad and a little starch, and protein is very important, whether it is grilled or in the oven.

  • Eat a fruit 3 hours after breakfast.

  • Avoid sweets and sweetened juices.

Suhoor:

We care about dairy products, eggs, and reduce carbohydrates.

Sally Fouad said that for the success of your diet in general during Ramadan, you must do the following:

  • Avoid fried and fatty foods and foods that contain a lot of starches and sugars and replace them with grills, vegetables, salads, and fruits.

  • Eat slow-digesting starches (complex carbohydrates like whole wheat products and legumes) and keep eating dates for breakfast - unless you have diabetes - dates are a great source of fiber, sugars, potassium and magnesium and provide the body with the energy needed for digestion later.

  • Drinking yoghurt or eating yogurt, especially at Suhoor, preferably with squeezing a lemon on it, because it helps absorb protein from the yogurt and raises the burning during sleep.

  • Drink water to activate the body's systems and to get rid of toxins.

  • Avoid sweets and sweetened juices

  • Take into account the intake of water after breakfast at intervals and not once.

  • Don't overeat in general.

And the application of the prophetic advice: “One third for your food, one third for your drink, and one third for yourself.”
