China News Service, Guangzhou, March 26 (Reporter Wang Jian) The Pearl River Water Conservancy Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources (hereinafter referred to as the "Pearl River Committee") announced on the 26th that in view of the current situation, the Pearl River Defense General has terminated the drought resistance level IV on March 24. The emergency response marks the successful conclusion of the drought-relief and water-supply work in the Pearl River Basin from 2021 to 2022.

According to the Pearl River Commission, there was a strong rainfall process in the central and eastern parts of the Pearl River Basin from the 21st to the 23rd. The accumulated rainfall in the Dongjiang River Basin, the Hanjiang River Basin and the coastal areas of eastern Guangdong, which had experienced a long drought, was 50 mm to 100 mm. Areas are 100mm to 250mm.

The Pearl River Commission predicts that in the next week, there may still be 100 mm to 250 mm of rainfall in parts of the upper and middle reaches of the Dongjiang River, the Hanjiang River, and the coastal areas of eastern Guangdong.

Affected by the heavy rainfall, the main and tributaries of the Dongjiang and Hanjiang will see a significant increase in water, the water storage of various reservoirs will increase significantly, and the drought has been completely lifted.

It is reported that in 2021, the spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall in the Pearl River Basin will be uneven and generally less, with 30 to 70% less water coming from major rivers, and the backbone reservoirs of Xijiang, Dongjiang and Hanjiang will be severely lacking in water storage. 6%, 3%, 5%, the central and eastern parts of the Pearl River Basin suffered the worst drought in 60 years.
