Due to an accident in which the Tohoku-Hokkaido Shinkansen derailed while driving due to an earthquake that observed a seismic intensity of 6 or higher, work began to move the vehicles returned to the rails from the site to the nearest station.

On the Tohoku-Hokkaido Line, the 17-car train that was running in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture, derailed due to the earthquake on the 16th of this month, injuring four passengers.

At the site, work is being carried out to return the 16 derailed vehicles to the rails from the 20th of this month, and from the 27th, the work to move them to Shiroishizao Station, which is about 2 km away, has begun.

Heading toward Sendai, the first car and the second car were connected to a work vehicle for towing and proceeded slowly while being pulled, and arrived at the station in about 20 minutes.

According to JR East, the work of returning derailed vehicles to the rails will be done using cranes in addition to jacks, and all vehicles will be able to be moved from the site around the 2nd of next month this weekend.

Then, while checking the restoration status of the rails, etc., it is planned to carry it to the Shinkansen General Rolling Stock Center in Rifu Town, Miyagi Prefecture.

The Tohoku-Hokkaido Line is still out of service between Koriyama Station in Fukushima Prefecture and Ichinoseki Station in Iwate Prefecture, and JR East is aiming to resume operation on all lines around the 20th of next month.
