China News Service, Xining, March 25 (Zhang Tianfu, Kang Weihai) A reporter from China News Service learned from the Qinghai Provincial Department of Natural Resources on the 25th that a number of units signed an agreement to promote the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning reference station network to better serve Qinghai's land and resources Surveying and mapping, earthquake monitoring and forecasting, and earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation application services maximize the benefits of existing observation resources.

It is reported that under the witness of Shang Xiangong, director of Qinghai Provincial Geographic Information and Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Center, Yang Liming, director of Qinghai Seismological Bureau, and Liu Jie, deputy director of China Earthquake Network Center, the above three units jointly signed the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning reference station. Network observation data sharing cooperation agreement.

The agreement makes it clear that the three parties will give full play to their respective advantages to jointly carry out scientific research and academic exchanges in related fields such as earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, natural resource survey and monitoring, construction and maintenance of a modern surveying and mapping benchmark system, and regional deformation monitoring, so as to enhance their public service capabilities in their respective fields.

Qinghai Province is one of the main areas of seismic activity in my country. More than 97.3% of the area in the province is in the high seismic intensity area of VII (0.10g) and above.

Since 2000, earthquakes of magnitude 6 or above have occurred many times in Qinghai Province. Among them, the 8.1 magnitude earthquake in the west of Kunlun Mountain Pass in 2001 was the largest earthquake in mainland my country in more than 60 years; on May 22, 2021, Maduo, Guoluo Prefecture, Qinghai Province A magnitude 7.4 earthquake occurred in the county; on January 8, 2022, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred in Menyuan County, Haibei Prefecture, Qinghai Province.

According to reports, as an important basic observation data, the observation data of the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning reference station network has the characteristics of high precision, high efficiency, and is not easily affected by changes in the observation environment.

This data sharing will further improve the utilization rate and development and application of observational data in Qinghai, and will definitely play a positive role in the joint development of the three parties in earthquake prevention and disaster mitigation, seismic surveying and mapping scientific research, technology application, and information services. The government's decision-making services for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction play a supporting role in science and technology.

Shang Xiangong said that the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning reference station in Qinghai Province has played a huge role in the analysis of Maduo and Menyuan earthquakes. Carry out in-depth cooperation in related fields such as monitoring, construction and maintenance of modern surveying and mapping reference systems.

Yang Liming said that this signing of cooperation will further promote the maximization of the value of resource sharing and serve the province's disaster prevention and mitigation work.

Liu Jie said that the China Earthquake Network Center has received strong support from the Comprehensive Survey Center in the Maduo and Menyuan earthquake analysis work. He hoped that the three parties will implement the agreement as soon as possible and fully share data and other resources.
