The supply and demand of electricity in the winter of next season is expected to be extremely difficult within the jurisdiction of TEPCO.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is requesting TEPCO to secure supply capacity in January and February next year, with the forecast that the reserve margin required for stable supply will be significantly lower than 3%.

At a council meeting held on the 25th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced the outlook for electricity supply and demand for the next winter from December to March next year.

The outlook for supply and demand looks at the reserve capacity of supply for peak power demand as a numerical value called reserve ratio.

According to this, assuming a severe cold once every 10 years, the reserve margin will be 0.1% in January next year and 1% in February next year within the jurisdiction of TEPCO, which is significantly lower than the 3% required for stable supply. The situation is expected to be extremely difficult.

Also, in the six areas of Chubu Electric Power, Hokuriku Electric Power, Kansai Electric Power, Chugoku Electric Power, Shikoku Electric Power, and Kyushu Electric Power, the outlook is extremely harsh, with 3.7% in January and 3.1% in February.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said that it was necessary to secure additional supply capacity within the jurisdiction of TEPCO, and requested that the old thermal power plant, which is scheduled to be suspended, be temporarily operated and that the inspection time of the power plant be staggered. I am rushing to take measures.
