Kuwait is considering withdrawing the nationality of the "naturalized" wife of the Kuwaiti

Withdrawing the Kuwaiti nationality from the wife of a Kuwaiti who acquired it if she married a non-Kuwaiti after a divorce from her husband or his death is under investigation and investigation in the Fatwa and Legislation Department, especially after the Parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee referred a memorandum to the Ministry of Interior requesting knowledge of the constitutionality of this decision.

The memorandum included, according to Al-Rai newspaper, that “the Parliamentary Interior and Defense Committee asked the Ministry of Interior to know the possibility of adding a new paragraph to the draft law related to the naturalization of Kuwaiti wives: (It provides for the withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from the foreign woman who acquired it by the Kuwaiti Nationality Law - and her marital relationship ended in divorce or Death - if she married a non-Kuwaiti)?”

This is according to the discussion that took place during the committee’s meeting, and the committee would like to know the point of view of the “Interior” after taking the opinion of the Fatwa and Legislation Department in accordance with the procedures followed so that the committee can take its decision after knowing the constitutionality of this addendum, in accordance with all the opinions presented to it.

The Ministry of Interior responded to the memo, saying, “The General Department of Legal Affairs has been addressed to the Fatwa and Legislation Department to respond to what was stated in this question so that the committee can take its decision after knowing the constitutionality of this addition, and you will be informed of developments in this regard.”
