The municipal council of Songeons (Oise) has decided to take a strong measure to limit the wandering of dogs in the town.
The elected officials have indeed taken an order simply prohibiting the wandering of these animals.
Any dog wandering around without its masters at its side could thus be captured, explains
L'Eclaireur - La Dépêche
.
He will then be presented to a veterinarian.
The professional will then determine if the animal is chipped or tattooed in order to identify its owners.
In the absence of this information, the dog will be placed in the pound under the responsibility of the municipality.
Owners may receive a fine of several hundred euros.
Two incidents previously
"The decision was difficult to make, but it was necessary," said Mayor Jean-Claude Baguet.
It came a few weeks after a wandering Labrador attacked a village resident who was walking her dog.
The latter died and his mistress had her arm broken.
Another stray dog had bitten a child three years earlier in the town.
