“A drama”… It is in these terms that Dave described the accident which almost cost him his life at the end of January.

The cult singer, hospitalized after a fall at his home, had given reassuring news in recent weeks.

But in a new interview with his companion for

Paris Match

, the star confided the extent of the after-effects from which he still suffers and which should affect him for some time.

“I didn't understand why, but Dave had the sudden need to make a machine to wash jeans,” says Patrick Loiseau, the man who shares the life of the interpreter of

Vanina

.

"I heard a thud.

I went into the living room.

He was there, lying on the ground, inert.

I thought he was dead,” he added.

Dave, he has absolutely no memory of what happened: he broke two vertebrae in the fall, but his head mainly hit the only one, causing neurological damage and plunging the star into a coma for four to five days.

The most terrible

Dave confides that he now has memory problems.

But that's not all.

“The most terrible thing is that I lost my taste and smell.

Eating is one of my favorite pastimes.

It's a real tragedy," he said.

The singer was able to return home at the end of last month, but since the beginning of March, he has had to return regularly to the hospital for his rehabilitation.

“They left me alone for two weeks and, since March 7, I have been going back to the hospital every day: occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, I even see a psychologist!

I'm not allowed to drive for the next six months.

Other than that, I'm fine,” assured Dave.

However, there is no question of ending his career, and despite his memory problems, he intends to return to the stage “at the end of April”, according to him.

“I think I still know my songs.

I didn't try because my voice is a bit veiled.

But for me, being on stage is nirvana,” the star concluded.
