After more than fifty years in service with the Air Force, the C-160 Transall transport aircraft will no longer be used.
To celebrate the retirement of the jumbo jet manufactured between 1963 and 1981, one of these aircraft criss-crosses France, passing through symbolic sites.
This memorial tour, which began on March 14 and will last until April 1, stops in the Yvelines this Wednesday and Thursday.
Low flyovers and parachutists
One of the 214 C-160 Transall produced in eighteen years will indeed land at air base 107 in Vélizy-Villacoublay (Yvelines) this Wednesday, reports Actu 78. It will leave the next day.
The overflights will allow amateurs to admire the mythical plane since they will be carried out at low altitude.
Skydiving jumps from the aircraft are also planned.
The result of a joint effort by France and Germany, the C-160 Transall entered service in 1965. It has since been used by the French, Turkish, German and South African armies, among others.
The aircraft can carry 16 tons of cargo and 91 passengers.
