On April 10, TF1 will conclude its live broadcast of the first round of the presidential election at 9:30 p.m., then will rebroadcast the film

Les Visiteurs

.

This is the first time that the channel will reduce airtime to this extent for a ballot for the race at the Elysée.

The habit, until then, was very long election nights.

“You had the TF1 20 hour set which arrived on the France 2 set at 9 p.m. and vice versa, and you still had comments and political sets, but honestly without making much progress”, declares Thierry Thuillier, the general manager. Deputy of the Information division of the TF1 group.

“The uses, tastes and expectations of viewers have evolved”

The first channel therefore decided to program Jean-Marie Poiré's cult comedy, arguing that "the uses, tastes and expectations of viewers have evolved" and highlighting "the multiplication of the offer" of debates and comments on news channels.

The evening of the first round of TF1 will begin at 6:30 p.m.

From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Gabriel Attal (LREM), Jordan Bardella (RN), Marion Maréchal (Reconquête!), Eric Ciotti (LR), Clémentine Autain (LFI) and Delphine Batho (EELV), will be invited to the set.

At 9.30 p.m., election night will continue on LCI, the news channel of the TF1 group.
