An Egyptian YouTuber and his wife accused of trading bitcoin

 Egyptian lawyer Ashraf Farhat submitted a complaint to the investigation authorities against YouTuber Hamdi and Wafa, accusing them of trading in bitcoin, illegal cash circulation, and electronic extortion.

In his communication, Farhat continued, that in terms of Sharia, the highest authority for fatwas in Egypt, which is the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, came out to express the opinion of religion in the matter that is controversial, and announced that dealing with encrypted currencies is forbidden by law;

As it harms the national economy, the Central Bank has warned against dealing in all types of encrypted virtual currencies, including Bitcoin, more than once, attributing this to what it described as its high risks, dominated by fluctuation in value;

As a result of uncontrolled global speculation, according to a statement by the bank.

The communication added that Article 206 of the Central Bank Law stipulates that it is prohibited to issue, trade, or promote cryptocurrencies or electronic money, or to create or operate platforms to trade them or carry out activities related to them, without obtaining a license from the Board of Directors, in accordance with the rules and procedures. which it determines.
