At a time when the Russian-Ukrainian war has revived the debate about the nature of the world order, the characteristics of its interactions, and the weights of power and influence of the actors in it, the world and decision makers look with suspicion at what will happen to the events, and at what will reveal the reality of the influence of states and their position in the equation of political, economic and security domination and control over the world. The global competition arena on the one hand, and the extent to which international and regional files have been affected on the other hand, have been painted over for decades in an American color, and a number of Arab and Islamic issues, particularly the Palestinian issue, had a large share of that American influence.

The Russian-Ukrainian war reopened the discussion on a number of issues at the global level, political, security, economic, etc., and perhaps one of the most important things to talk about, and it concerns a number of Arab and Islamic issues, including the Palestinian issue, is the recent talk about some concepts and human values of special importance. For the Palestinians and their friends in the world, such as the concepts of occupation, resistance, terrorism and extremism.

The United States of America has adopted the Israeli position towards the Palestinians in all its dimensions, including the Israeli portrayal of the Palestinian self, identity, and liberating behavior.

The United States, along with most of the Western powers, with its various tools of power and supremacy that prevailed over many decades ago, was able to persuade or force most countries of the world to adopt their own definition of occupation, resistance and terrorism.

In Palestine, it succeeded in giving international legitimacy to an extremist racist settlement project, which was based on the ruins of a people whose roots extend deep into their land, belonging to the place’s history, geography and civilization.

It gave itself the right to impose its own definition and categorize the Palestinian resistance movements and their various tools, and it forced the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization to officially announce its abandonment of the resistance, condemning it, and sometimes describing it as terrorism. It also placed the Palestinian resistance movements on terrorist lists, and pursued its leaders and cadres across the world. .

Today we live in the shadows of events that may lead to the production of a new version of the international system, which will undoubtedly impose its repercussions on the prevailing Western-American definitions and concepts.

Today, the Western world is facing a challenge, even a value and conceptual impasse, as a force that is neither Arab, nor Islamic, nor from the Third World invades a European country. With this invasion, the terms of resistance, terrorism, Nazism and mercenaries have returned to the Western and international media, and on the tongues of political leaders in the world.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged foreigners to go to Ukrainian embassies around the world to join an "international brigade" of volunteers to help fight invading Russian forces, and demanded that Ukraine form an "international resistance corps" to defend it and democracy and civilized values.

In return, Russia threatened to count them as "European mercenaries".

It would be over-optimistic, if not naive, to believe that these developments will lead to a change in the West’s positions, or its recognition of its historical mistakes, and the falsity of its claims about freedom and justice, as there are many evidences of Western hypocrisy and double standards, the last of which will not be this position, which It was preceded by the position on freedoms, democracy and the right to self-determination in the Arab region and the Islamic world.

Historically, all peoples resisted the foreign occupier, and confronted it with all available means, and this was considered legitimate according to all customs and laws. The resistance in the countries of the so-called Third World, especially in the Arab and Islamic countries, and it continued over the past century and the two decades of this century in Palestine, and the Western powers sponsoring the Zionist occupation, especially the United States, have worked to demonize the resistance and persecute those who practice it and those who support it and branding them with terrorism.

It has reached the point of the United States occupying and destroying countries, dismantling regimes and isolating them internationally because of its position on the resistance and its support for it, as well as for other reasons.

Certainly, it would be over-optimistic, if not naive, to believe that these developments will lead to a change in the West’s positions, or its recognition of its historical mistakes, and the falseness of its claims about freedom and justice, as there are many evidences of Western hypocrisy and double standards, the last of which will not be this position, This was preceded by the position on freedoms, democracy and the right to self-determination in the Arab region and the Islamic world.

But this war and the events that permeate it will restore consideration to a number of concepts and positions related to the occupation, terrorism and the right to resistance, at the international level and at the level of public awareness. Diligent in order to continue to resist the occupation until its defeat, to gain freedom, and to achieve national and legitimate rights.

Racism and supremacist tendencies, despite the passage of a century since the emergence and defeat of racist nationalist movements such as fascism and Nazism, still dominate the Western mind and dwell deep in the subconscious and collective consciousness of it.

Some of its symptoms appeared in the media coverage of this war and the racist comparisons between Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine, as well as the racist attitude towards Europe of those fleeing the war towards Europe from the citizens of African and non-European countries.

But the confrontation of the West, whether governments or peoples, to such events will reopen the discussion about their positions on just issues and issues of national liberation, and the pursuit of freedom, and the search for justice in other parts of the world, and may lead to a shift in the positions of some political and societal forces, if not It was not in the positions of some countries regarding these issues, particularly the Palestinian issue.

In addition to the fact that this war will make a real difference at the level of concepts and terminology, it may also make a change at the level of attitudes and the balance of international forces, which the Palestinians should invest in the interest of their cause, and work to provide a national environment capable of interacting with it.

This also calls on some Palestinian movements, forces and political institutions, which have identified with the Western narrative and position, to review their position and re-trench in the national square;

To unify Palestinian and Arab efforts with all friends of the Palestinian cause to rebuild an honest and objective international position on the resistance and struggle of the Palestinian people, and to lift the injustice that has befallen the Palestinians as a result of the continuing Western bias towards the occupying state.

The Russian-Ukrainian war and the accompanying resistance of the Ukrainian people and calls to join this resistance, regardless of our position on the parties to the conflict in it, will constitute a new source - as well as other permanent and constant factors - of the legitimacy of the resistance against occupation, injustice and aggression, particularly in occupied Palestine. It rejects or condemns the Palestinian resistance in a moral, political and legal predicament, and it will confirm that anyone who differentiates between the resistance here and there is using double standards and abandoning the most basic moral and humanitarian values and principles.
