Le Dauphiné released

.

They were brought to light during an archaeological diagnosis established in July 2021, prior to the future construction of a biological treatment plant at this location.

A seed silo, pits and a sandstone millstone

Since January 17, 2022, a team of archaeologists co-directed by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap) and the Departmental Archeology Service of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence has thus launched the excavations.

Scientists have since found various traces of agricultural activity dating from the Bronze and Iron Ages, such as a grain silo, pits and a sandstone millstone.

Other elements, such as remains of pottery and a flint axe, bear witness to an earlier occupation, in the Neolithic and Upper Palaeolithic.

The campaign of preventive excavations will conclude on April 30, in order to make way for the site of the biological treatment plant, the construction of which will be completed in a year.
