On the occasion of the international week of La Francophonie, we take you to the largest French-speaking city in the world: Kinshasa.

There, French is the official language, but the everyday language is not classic French but rather a mixture of slang and other languages.

This is called "Parler Kinois".

Discredited for a long time, it is now making a place for itself in artistic creation.

Report signed by our correspondents Juliette Dubois and Clément Bonnerot.

Our guest has made language and its translation an object of philosophy in itself, a subject he teaches at Columbia University in New York.

He is Senegalese, born in Saint-Louis, raised in Ziguinchor, studied in Paris before settling several decades ago in the United States.

Souleymane Bachir Diagne is our guest, and he gives us his point of view on the position of African countries on the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.
