If you bought Buitoni (Nestlé) frozen pizzas from the Fraîch'Up range before March 18, 2022, do not eat it.

The brand called on consumers on Friday to throw away the products.

The reason: Escherichia coli bacteria have been identified in the dough of an uneaten pizza.

Ingested, they can cause serious food poisoning, even death.

The Buitoni press release does not specify the volumes or the countries concerned.

“One of the characteristics of frozen pizzas is that Escherichia coli disappear with heat, a pizza placed in the oven no longer presents any danger if it is consumed”, according to the general manager in charge of communication.

“There is no proven link between our products and the poisonings that occurred,” said Pierre-Alexandre Teulié, general manager in charge of communication for Nestlé France, adding that the recall was an “initiative of Buitoni in the name of the precautionary principle. ".

Consumers can get reimbursed

Public authorities are investigating the resurgence of cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) linked to E. coli to understand the origin, after the death of two children since the beginning of the year.

As of March 11, 2022, 26 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) “linked to E.coli bacteria with similar characteristics have been identified” in children 1 to 15 years old.

Consumers can take a photo of the packaging with the references to be reimbursed by contacting consumer services, the brand adds, apologizing to consumers.
