Due to a trouble that the engine of the "Boeing 777" was damaged and made an emergency landing at Naha Airport in Okinawa, the government had suspended the operation of the 777 with the same engine, and took measures to prevent recurrence such as repairing the engine cover. We have decided to allow the resumption of operations on the condition that the flight is resumed.

In December, while a Boeing 777 aircraft of Japan Airlines was flying, a part of the engine cover disappeared and a hole was made in the tail wing, causing an emergency landing at Naha Airport.

In February of last year, the engine of the same type of aircraft that was flying in the United States was damaged and parts were dropped in the residential area, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism told domestic airlines that the Boeing 777 aircraft equipped with the same engine In addition to instructing the suspension of operations, we have also suspended overseas airlines from entering Japan.

The damage to the engine may have been caused by the internal blades called "fan blades" breaking due to fatigue failure, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism consulted with the US aviation authorities and engine manufacturers to cover the engine. In addition to the repair of the engine, we have decided to allow the resumption of operation on condition that recurrence prevention measures such as inspection to confirm cracks and damage inside the engine by ultrasonic waves are implemented.

Operations are expected to resume as soon as the airline companies that carry out repairs and inspections are in place.
