The Landes hunting federation responded to requests from two Polish NGOs to send clothing and equipment to Ukraine.
Nearly 50 m3 of trellis, hunting equipment, stoves, lamps, etc.
are intended for Ukrainian civilians who have taken up arms.
The collection will leave on Wednesday aboard a semi-trailer chartered free of charge by a Polish transporter bound for the town of Przemyśl, on the border with Ukraine.
Landes hunters have sorted through their cupboards, for a good cause.
The Fédération des chasseurs des Landes has responded to the appeal of Polish associations by collecting mountains of camouflage clothing for Ukrainian civilians who take up arms.
"We were asked because our clothes are warm, solid and discreet, which is what the military are looking for", explains Régis Hargues, director of the federation of Landes hunters.
In a few days, the federation, which has 19,000 hunters, has amassed nearly 50 m3 of hunting equipment, exceeding all expectations.
The room is thus full to bursting with fatigues and jackets, walking shoes, but also flashlights, camp beds, stoves.
The hunters answered the call of two Polish NGOs Fundacja Ocelanie and Fundacja Rodu Szeptyckich, and "everything went at breakneck speed", assures a resident of the Landes, Eva Dzueduszyck, who relayed these requests to the hunters.
A "moment of empathy and benevolence"
"There are plenty of Ukrainian civilians who want to engage in territorial defense and who have nothing to wear," says this resident of Saint-Pierre-du-Mont in contact with these associations, who is delighted of this "outpouring of empathy and benevolence".
