The airport nuisance control authority (Acnusa) published its deliberations on Wednesday concerning the next Environmental Noise Prevention Plan (PPBE).

The body issued an unfavorable opinion, regretting the postponement of a measure aimed at enforcing the cap on night flights at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle (Val-d'Oise), reports

Freight on the front line

Scheduled for 2019, the application of the limitation was finally postponed to winter 2024-2025.

Last February, 1,124 aircraft movements were recorded at night at the airport, or one every six minutes.

93.5% of these flights are air cargo which, due to the boom in online sales, is said to have increased by almost 25% during the pandemic.

However, these aircraft have a greater acoustic impact.

Acnusa again called for compliance with the ceiling of 17,500 night air movements per year.

She recalled that carriers at fault risk heavy fines.
